25 Years of Art in Portugal by Will Kellermann – International Artist.

Will Kellermann, born in the Netherlands, moved to Zurich, Switzerland, after studying art at various art academies. There, she built a career as a recognized artist with many exhibitions. After 15 years, she returned to her native country. There, Will developed new techniques and a personal style with her Silkcolors©.

“For these paintings, I use high-quality Chinese silk as canvas. I achieve my deep and rich colors by painting layer after layer with sparkling, transparent, and opaque paint, a process in which harmony plays a major role. In my work, I want to evoke emotions in the viewer.”

Will’s oil paintings are full of color and movement. Over the years, her style has evolved. Her colors are more intense, with a tendency towards abstraction, but still retaining the layering and romance that are so characteristic of her work. Watercolor is also a favorite technique. “I am a colorist; I see, taste, and feel color everywhere. My themes are very diverse, but the inspiration from Portugal is always present. Ideas fly at me, as it were, both in my studio and in the world outside. I love Portugal. Portugal is beautiful, inspiring, and everywhere I see images that I want to immortalize.”

Kellermann has a studio in both the Netherlands and in Tavira, Algarve. The year 2001 was an important year; I met the man of my dreams and he took me to Portugal. I fell in love instantly with this picturesque, sunny, and friendly country. Our boat was docked in the harbor of Vilamoura, and there I spent countless hours making watercolors on the quay and along the boulevard. We would rent a small car every time and crisscross the entire country, from the Minho to Lisbon, Beira, Porto, and all the way to the Algarve itself. We stayed overnight in all those beautiful Pousadas. What a treat: the culture, the Fado singers, the delicious, honest food, those lovely people. Now, after all these years of commuting between the Netherlands and the Algarve, I still haven’t tired of this magnificent country, and certainly haven’t finished painting it. This year marks 25 years of capturing Portugal colorfully in my paintings. I depict Portugal in all its facets and using all painting techniques. It never gets boring; the many faces of Portugal continue to inspire.

After “Portraits of Portugal” 2014 and “Alma de Portugal” 2022, follows Now, once again, a solo exhibition of Will Kellermann’s years of inspiration from and vision of Portugal, titled: “Visions of Portugal”. She is exhibiting a colorful, diverse image of Portugal at the Museu do Traje in São Brás de Alportel from May 22 to June 28. The festive Vernissage will take place on May 22 from 5 pm to 7 pm, and the convivial Finissage on June 28 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Paintings by Will Kellermann have been exhibited in prominent galleries and museums in Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Russia, and the Netherlands. Collectors in Europe, the Middle East, China, and America own works by Kellermann. Many of her paintings have been awarded prestigious international prizes.

The book “Romantisch Adventurisme” – Will Kellermann (Dutch-English) offers an insight into her work and life.

Will Kellermann is een flamboyant persoon.
