Silkcolors© are speaking my language.

Painting on silk cloth is a privilege, but also a struggle.

The advantage of silk – the flow of the paint – is also its disadvantage. If you can’t direct the paint, you’ll end up with outflows made by the silk itself, not the artist. Silkcoloring demands a steady hand and much experience.

With the technique I developed, I enter into a relationship with the intrinsic power of the natural product. I feel the mystique, see the colors bloom and the light glow in the prismatic fibers. I paint layer upon layer with liquid pigments, often in twenty layers. This layering makes my Silkcolors© so lively and flamboyant. I am a colorist and intuitively paint with colors until I reach the deepest feeling of my imagination. In my work I go on a journey of discovery into the mysticism of the human spirit.

My Silkcolors© speak of dreams, secrets and unsuspected powers in our nature. In the many layers of paint you can recognize the layers of the human soul, luminous, open and yet intimate. With my painting technique, light and dark move along with the shapes and lines that arise. The sparkling play of colors creates a depth effect. The scenes touch on Symbolism, tell a romantic  adventure that transcends our everyday life.

Watercolor painting with a dancing brush.

The combination of water and pigment is for me the challenge of professional watercolor painting. While painting I want to control these elements.

Every brush stroke must be spot on and every superfluous stroke is a loss of expression. It’s all about naturally flowing handwriting.

When I paint watercolors, it feels like I’m taking a deep dip in the water. I go to explore the depths of doubt and at the bottom I see my pigments. It’s like I can touch the colors. Then I wave  them up from the dark depths, to the light that will make everything clear. My imagination takes a flight. And when I ascend up until behind my painting easel, I let my brush danse on the paper and the watercolour of my signature has been born.

Light fascinates me. It gives the colors color, the shapes shape and the painting a soul. I love color, see, taste and dream color. The world of colors is limitless and inexhaustible. Color does something to a person, to the soul. Colors affect our emotions and are filled with symbolic values.

Oil paintings imbued with freedom.

Contrasts and complementary colours appeal to me. I like light versus shadow effects and like to paint very directly, with a loose touch. In addition, however, I look for the colour nuances – ton sur ton – that suggest depth in my paintings. I like Fauvism. I use strong, clear, pure colours. They are represented by me with my feeling. Natural colours, as “people” think they see, do not fascinate me.

I see, taste and feel color. I am a colorist by nature.

When you look at my earlier work, you see flashes of impressionism. I paint an impression, an emotion, and my brush is driven by the feeling of what I want to see. Romance is the undercurrent in this, adventure is the quest. Yes, I am the painter of ‘Romantic Adventurism’. My style and subjects touch romanticism, but in my paintings everyone can discover his or her own adventure.

In recent years there has been a shift in my oil painting. I have come to discover even more the power in adventurism. On the broad path of abstraction, I grab the essence and cross the boundaries of naturalism. I give my work more movement with dashing surfaces coloured areas. These surfaces bear witness to momentum, dynamism, they fly, as it were, from the wall to the surrounding space. The oil paintings show who I am, active, curious, candid and imbued with freedom.

The viewer can feel the soul of the artist when he/she looks attentively at the work.
